Baramulla : The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYS&S) Zone Wagoora on Wednesday started an exhilarating inter-school U-14 and U-17 boy’s football competition, marking the beginning of an action-packed annual activities calendar.
The event began at the Middle School Nowpora Jagir ground, where the under 17 matches took center stage, featuring a dynamic participation of 96 talented students from various educational institutions within the zone.
Amid an atmosphere charged with excitement, the Vice Principal of HSS Nowpora proudly inaugurated the ceremony, signaling the launch of this much-anticipated competition. The young athletes displayed their prowess on the field, showcasing their dedication and passion for the sport.
In addition DYS&S organized a series of sports activities under the theme ‘Meri Matti, Mera Desh’ (My Soil, My Nation). The event aimed to foster a spirit of sportsmanship and patriotism among the youth.
Three Educational zones, Baramulla, Fatehgarh and Tangmarg hosted an engaging Chess competition for both boys and girls, showcasing their strategic thinking and mental prowess.
Participants from various schools enthusiastically took part, highlighting the commitment of the youth towards sports.
The Department also distributed national flags among the students as a precursor to the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. This initiative aimed to instill a sense of pride and unity among the students, encouraging them to actively participate in national occasions.
The DYS&S Baramulla remains committed to promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and national values through such events. The ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ initiative serves as a reminder of the symbiotic relationship between our homeland and our nation.
