Jammu: A day after one terrorist was neutralised, the gunfight is still in progress as a group of terrorists are suspected to be trapped in an ensuing operation in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Defence spokesman on Sunday said that based on intelligence joint operation of Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army and Ppoluce launched on Saturday.
“After initial contact, Indian Army troops moved to the area and pinned down terrorists assessed to be upto 2 to 3,” said the spokesman.
He added that additional troops of Rashtriya Rifles mobilised as terrain is undulating and forrested, adding, “special forces brought in by Indian Air Force helicopter.”
“Repeated attempts by terrorists to break cordon thwarted by controlled fire throughout the night,” he added.
The spokesman stated that night enabled Quadcopters, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Sniffer Dogs also used.
“One terrorist confirmed killed,” said the spokesman adding that firefight still on as Army and Special forces have closed on to other terrorists while the search for others in progress.
The Army however, also shared a picture of a terrorist eliminated in the gunfight.
