Srinagar: Syed Ali Geelani continues to be under house detention since last seven years and his continued house detention is taking heavy toll on his health, said Huriyat. Meanwhile police arrested Hurriyat spokesman Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar from his residence and lodged him in police station Batamalo, a press statement issued by Hurriyat Conference said.
Tehreek-e- Hurriyat General Secretary Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Mohammad Ashraf Laya were also put under house arrest, said Hurriyat. The state has been virtually turned into police garrison, said Huriyat and added that state authorities are creating emergency like situations and curbs and uncalled restrictions on peaceful political activities has deflated their rhetoric for “battle of ideas’’.
Hurriyat while condemning the state authorities for their dictatorial approach said that since year 2010, Syed Ali Geelani is confined to four walls of his residence as police authorities have practically turned his residence into a sub jail.
Hurriyat while denouncing state authorities for their despotic approach, said that they failed to justify illegal confinement of Syed Ali Geelani and added it is sheer bullying and illustrates the height of lawlessness in state.
Hurriyat Conference termed the continuous detention of Geelani as open demonstration of state terrorism and while ridiculing coalition regime led by Mehbooba Mufti for their rhetoric about: ‘’Battle of Ideas’’ and ‘’Goli Nahi Boli,’’ said that their all slogans and tall claims proved fraud and hoax.
Hurriyat Conference while strongly denouncing authorities for arresting its spokesman, Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar and said that arrest spree and all these barbaric acts are aimed at to create scare and to break the resolve of leadership.
People will never disassociate from freedom movement and won’t succumb to pressure and corrosive tactics, said Hurriyat and added that we will pursue our goal despite all odds and psychological crackdown won’t deter us from pursuing our cherished mission.
Hurriyat Conference strongly condemned the slapping PSA on 18-year-old Riaz Ahmed Dar and shifting him to Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu and added that vengeful actions against innocent youth is unethical and unconstitutional.
Hurriyat Conference strongly condemned forces attack on school vane in Letpora, saying that innocent students and teaching staff were returning to their home and said that forces through these cowardly acts are deliberately deteriorating the situations in state.
