VC State Kissan Board visits Floriculture Nurseries in Srinagar

Srinagar: J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans Friday arranged a field visit to Floriculture Nurseries developed by various progressive entrepreneurs/Farmers in downtown area of District Srinagar.

To access the implementation of schemes under Floriculture Sector, and to see the achievements of Progressive Farmers engaged in Floriculture Sector and to hear their problems at gross root level,  Vice Chairman, State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, Daljit Singh Chib along with Abdul Hamid Wani, Secretary, State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans,  Naseer Ahmad Hussaini, District Floriculture Officer, Srinagar and  Tauseef Ahmad, Assistant Floriculture Officer, Srinagar visited Lal Bazaar locality in Srinagar District.

Chib was happy to see the nursery “Exotic Flora, Inc (A Holland Joint Venture)” developed by Progressive entrepreneurs in downtown locality at Lal Bazar Srinagar.

The Vice Chairman Kissan Board appreciated the work of these progressive entrepreneurs who have developed various varieties of cut flowers and various varieties of hybrid seeds there which were previously imported from Holland and France.

The progressive farmers highlighted various bottle necks and problems which hinder the growth of floriculture sector in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

It was informed that Floriculture is a second largest Industry after Horticulture, where maximum youths of Jammu and Kashmir State can be absorbed provided the problems faced by entrepreneurs in this trade are addressed by the Government.

Chib listened to the demands of farmers and gave a patient hearing. He assured these farmers / entrepreneurs that J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans will take up these problems with Chief Minister (Chairperson of the Board) J&K State for their redressal well in time.

He gave on spot instructions to the officers of Floriculture Department for identification of these problems with their possible solution so that these problems can be addressed.
