Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Saturday called on the Swedish government to hand over the perpetrator of the recent “crimes” of insulting the Quran to Muslim states’ judicial systems.
He made the remarks in a message to condemn the “bitter, conspiratorial and dangerous” affront to the Quran in Sweden, according to a statement published on the leader’s website.
Khamenei said all Muslim scholars agree that the “perpetrator of the crimes” should receive the “harshest punishment.”
On Thursday, an Iraqi refugee, who burned a copy of the Quran last month, desecrated the holy book again by stomping on it during a demonstration in Sweden’s capital Stockholm.
