Srinagar: A delegation of Civil Society, Baramulla Thursday called on Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and requested for speeding up land acquisition process for Baramulla Degree College.
Acquisition of land for the Government Degree College, Baramulla was discussed in detail with the delegation.
The Minister, during his interaction with the delegation, led by MLA Baramulla, said money would soon be sanctioned to augment the infrastructure of Baramulla Degree College.
Pledging to make it one of the best colleges in Baramulla, the Minister gave an approval to depute more faculty for the department of Mathematics and Mass Communication.
On this occasion, the civil society members apprised Bukhari about the present status of college. The Minister was informed that college imparts education at post graduation level and hence should be called as a PG College so that University Grants Commission declares the same as a research centre.
After giving a patient hearing to the issues faced by them, the Minister assured the delegation that their genuine grievances will be looked into. During the meeting various other issues were also put forward before the Minister to which he extended his full support.
He also asked the officials to submit the proposals on priority basis for the works that needs to be implemented in the district Baramulla.
