Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a shopkeeper from Palhallan in district Baramulla for his involvement in the unauthorized sale of petroleum products at exorbitant rates.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz, assisted by Incharge Police Post Palhallan arrested a Shopkeeper identified as Mohd Yaqoob Sheikh S/o Ghulam Hassan Sheikh R/o Tantraypora Palhallan for being found involved in selling of Petroleum products illegal on exorbitant rates at his shop located at Palhallan Pattan, Baramulla.
Stating that during search, 400 litres of Petrol/ Diesel was recovered from the shop of the accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been also initiated into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police urged people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or illegal practices they come across, adding therein that such information can be crucial in curbing criminal activities and maintaining a safe and secure environment for all.
