DC Pulwama chairs Distt Cooperative Dev Committee meeting

Pulwama: In order to strengthen the Cooperative movement at ground level and to realize the vision of ‘Sahakar se Samriddhi’, a meeting of District Cooperative Development Committee was held on Saturday under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, (DC) Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom at DC Office Pulwama.
The meeting discussed threadbare various aspects with regard to making primary agriculture credit societies (PACS) as vibrant economic entities and adoption of model bylaws by all the PACS in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed upon the line departments to work in coordination with the Cooperative department and ensure inter departmental linkages and convergence of schemes for greater good and enhancing the livelihood opportunities of rural populace.
He acknowledged the timely completion of data compilation of PACS for the Centrally Sponsored Project of Computerization of PACS by Cooperative Department of Pulwama district. Moreover, he stressed for activation of all PACS as Common Service Centre’s who have been already on boarded in a time bound manner in collaboration with MEITY.
The DC reviewed and hailed the timely adoption of Model Bye-Laws by the PACS and updating of data in National Cooperative Database
The Dy Registrar Cooperative Societies Pulwama, Adnan Nazir earlier gave an overview of the present status of Cooperative Societies in the district and efforts put in place to enhance their business and revive them.
He apprised the meeting that new assets like Mini Super Bazaar, Smart Classrooms in Cooperative Schools, establishment of retail LPG distributorship and retail petrol pumps, CSC’s, Jan Aushadi Kendras etc are coming up under cooperatives in an effort to revive cooperative movement across Pulwama.
Moreover the department has deputed society members in order to undergo fertilizer and pesticides related training from SKUAST in compliance with the PMKSK Project.
The DC directed that the PACS identified for setting up of Jan Aushadi Kendra should be located nearby to the hospitals so as to benefit the larger population.
It was impressed upon the department that a workshop should be organised for all the members of PACS in order to gain awareness regarding NCDC schemes so that they can avail benefits of these Government interventions. It was also directed that the department should work towards establishing a milk federation in the district.
The DC gave directions in order to identify a society for establishing Rural Haat with the directions to DDM NABARD to coordinate.
Among others, the meeting was attended by the Additional District Development Commissioner, Chief Agricultural Officer, DDM NABARD, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, representatives of Cooperative Bank and JKMPCL.
