Srinagar: Unknown gunmen on Thursday evening shot at and injured three non-local labourers in Gagran area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district. Meanwhile Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has condemned the attack on non local labourers, saying therein that perpetrators of the attack will be brought to justice.
An official said that militants shot at and injured three non-local labourers in Gagran area of Shopian. The official said that at 08:45 PM, two pistol-borne masked persons entered into the rented accommodation of the non-local labourers at Gagren Shopian where the non-local labourers residing on rented basis were shot.
The three among them were injured and were evacuated to a nearby District Hospital Shopian where from they were referred to SMHS Srinagar for advanced treatment
The injured persons have been identified as Anmol Kumar, son of Amardeep, Hiralal Yadav, son of Darsi Yadav and Pintoo Kumar, son of Susheel Kumar—all residents of Shipol district of Bihar.
Meanwhile, an official from the hospital said that Anwal Thakur with right arm & abdomen injuries in critical condition while two others are stated to be stable. Moreover, the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet also confirmed the incident and said that the cordon has been launched in the area. Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said that the militants fired upon three non local labourers in Shopian Injured as Anmol Kumar, Pintu Kumar Thakur and Heralal Yadav, all residents of Distt Supaul, Bihar, adding therein that the injured have been shifted to hospital and cordon has been also launched to nab the culprits.
Meanwhile Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in a statement issued on Thursday evening strongly condemned the attack in Shopian in which three people have been injured. The Lt Governor said such barbaric acts targeting labourers highlight the desperation and cowardice of militants and their sympathisers. He has directed the district administration to ensure all possible assistance to those injured and their family members. The Lt Governor said no efforts will be spared to bring the perpetrators to justice.
