Secy HRD Anil Swarup holds interactive session with students

Srinagar: Union Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy Anil Swarup Wednesday held an interactive session with the students from various government schools in the state to review the educational scenario in the state.

The interactive session was held at Govt Higher Secondary School Kothibagh Srinagar, while students from various other schools joined the session through video conferencing.

The students interacted with Secretary and shared their experiences from the interactive e- learning mode of teaching. They informed the Secretary that ICT labs have enabled them to get quality online lectures at their fingertips and has made them independent in learning process. They added that audio visual facility is more interesting and comprehensive in nature.

Students said ICT labs make it easy to understand the finer concepts besides making even the most complicated concepts of different subjects available in digital format. Further, they informed that ICT labs have enabled them to interact with national and international students.

During the interaction session, the Secretary said the government is committed to providing more facilities for universalization of education. He assured that proper and feasible support will be provided for enhancing labs the ICT labs in the state. He also directed for making the ICT labs more spacious so that more students will get benefitted at the same time.

Later, the Secretary also held a meeting to review the progress made with regards to implementation of various state and centrally sponsored schemes in education sector in the state.

It was informed in the meeting that almost 80% of work for improving education scenario and teachers training under different schemes has been completed.

The Secretary said the quality of training should not be compromised. He instructed officials to undertake drives for increasing student enrollment in educational institutions especially at primary and middle school level.

He further directed for ensuring proper utilization of funds released under state and centrally sponsored schemes.

The officials were directed to expedite work on all ongoing and new infrastructure and allied projects so that the education of students does not suffer. He also said a campaign needs to be initiated to encourage school children to teach uneducated members of the community, neighborhood etc.

Moreover, the Secretary also directed officials to speed up the Aadhaar seeding of children in schools and linking that data with UDISE , so that the students can avail benefits of various central and state sponsored schemes.

The Secretary was accompanied by Secretary School Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Director School Education Kashmir, G.N. Itoo, Director School Education Jammu, Ranbir Singh, Director RMSA, Tufail Matoo, Director SSA, A.R. War and other senior officials.
