Srinagar: The Joint Platform of employees of J&K, leaders of different unions Including EJAC and EJCC representing government Employees in Jammu and Kashmir have decided to defer their planned protest following discussions with the Government and assurances given by it on release of the General Provident (GP) Fund.
In a statement issued on Monday the leaders of the Joint Platform of the employees aaid “The GP Fund, which is the employees’ own money, has been withheld by the government for the past several months, causing significant financial hardships to the workers/employees”,adding that “Recognizing the urgent need to address this issue, representatives from the different unions and the government held a productive meeting to discuss the matter and move to defer the protest was taken after the Govt sent an invitation to the leaders for talks”.
The leaders of the Joint Platform of the employees in the concluding para of the above quoted statement said that the meeting between Union leaders and Govt Chaired by Mahesh Dasji, the Director General of Accounts and Treasuries.
