Jammu: On the lines to Border Area Sowing of Wheat during Rabi 2022-23 along Indo-Pak International Border, the Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Department on Sunday started the sowing for Kharif 2023 in Hiranagar belt of Kathua district.
As per the official communique, Abhinandan Sharma, DDC Member, Hiranagar in presence of Sanjeev Rai Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua, inaugurated Border Sowing of Mash Crop during Kharif 2023 in Karol Krishna Village, as fresh initiative taken by Department of Agriculture production and Farmers Welfare Kathua, in Karol Krishna Village, across the fence along Indo Pak International Border.
He thanked the Department of Agriculture and Border Security Force for their relentless support and efforts to the farming community from sowing to harvest of the crops sown along Indo Pak International Border.
Sanjeev Rai Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua congratulated farmers stating that the department is facilitating farmers by supplying free of cost seed of Mash, PU-10 variety to farmers of the area.
The variety is well suited to the area also. He said, in previous year i.e. FY 2022-23, during Kharif 2022, Mash was sown followed by Wheat Crop in Rabi 2022-23, generating a revenue of approximately Rs 85 lakh by the farming community.
Murari Digra, District Agriculture Officer (Ext) Kathua demonstrated use of Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB) while treating seeds before sowing Crops to ensure better yield and low disease infestation.
Dev Anand and Coy. Commander, BSF, Rajinder Kumar assured full support and cooperation to farmers ensuring security to them during cropping operations.
