Jammu : A thirty-year-old man hailing from the Khour village of Jammu died under mysterious conditions after his body was found hanging in the Bareri village of Nowshera in Rajouri district. He was working as labourer in a shop.
Reports said the body of Parveen Kumar was recovered on the night of Monday and Tuesday after which police started an investigation. His family members held a protest demonstration by blocking the national highway, alleging a conspiracy into Kumar’s death.
Parveen, son of Jeet Kumar, a resident of Malla Parore, Khour, in Jammu, was presently living in the Ward 7 of Nowshera town.
A police official said the deceased along with his wife and a child was living in a rented accommodation. His body found hanging with a pole in Bareri was then taken to the Sub District Hospital (SDH) Nowshera where the doctors declared the young man as brought dead, he said.
He said the post-mortem and other medico-legal formalities of the deceased were carried out at the SDH Nowshera.
Meanwhile, Parveen Kumar’s family members held a protest demonstration alleging a “well-hatched conspiracy” behind the death of their son.
The protesters assembled at the gate of the police station Nowshera and later moved over to Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch national highway at the Nowshera bridge, blocking the traffic, which led to the suspension of vehicular movement.
They raised slogans and demanded an in-depth investigation. “This is not a case of suicide by hanging but a well-hatched conspiracy and a murder. There must be a thorough probe and the accused must be booked,” they said.
Later, SHO and SDPO Nowshera reached the protest site and assured the family members that an investigation into the matter has already been started which will be taken to its logical conclusion.
On this assurance, the protest was called off and the vehicular movement on the highway was restored
