Int’l Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking observed at Reasi

Reasi : District Administration Reasi on Monday observed “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” across the district with the main event held in the Auditorium, DC Office Complex.
The event was organised by all the line departments in association with Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Nodal Department, Department of Social Welfare.
Chairman District Development Council Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Deputy Commissioner, Babila Rakwal along with Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi, Amit Gupta were the Guests of honour.
The DDC Chairman while interacting with the audience reflected that youth are extremely susceptible to drugs. Drugs deteriorate mental health and peer pressure leads vulnerable teenagers to indulge in drug abuse and become addicts. Drugs destroy lives, since the addicts can see nothing beyond their need to take drugs. We must urgently deal with the problem of drug abuse.
Deputy Commissioner Reasi, promoted the special helpline no. 9070907017 among the audience, and laid stress on the importance of sports and yoga activities in the fight against drug abuse.
SSP Reasi during his speech, awarded the students about the impacts of drugs, the symptoms and controlling measures.
Meanwhile, Central Administrator, One Stop Centre Reasi, imparted awareness about the One Stop Center and Women Helpline services and delivered a PowerPoint Presentation regarding how drug addiction in the society is spoiling social relations and impacting spouse relations by taking illustration of case study of a Domestic Violence case.
During the programme, students from different institutions also participated in various activities like seminars, Yoga based Dance performance, Nukkard Natak etc .
A seminar on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was held in block Chasana in the presence of Nodal officer Harbans Singh, the Chief Agriculture Officer. The district and sectoral offices of different departments also observed International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Meanwhile, the International day was also observed in all the sub divisions , blocks , Schools, colleges & other institutions of the Reasi district with great enthusiasm.
Additional District Development Commissioner Reasi, Jyoti Rani Salathia, Chief Education Officer Reasi, Sunita Kumari, District Social Welfare Officer Reasi, Pallvi Sharma and Dy SP were also present. Sectoral and Administrative Officers from other departments, Principals from Degree colleges and teacher fraternity of various schools along with students & youths of the district participated in the event.
The programme culminated after a pledge ‘Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs’ taken by the participants.
