DC Srinagar finalizes arrangements for auspicious Festival of Eid-ul-Azha

DC Constitutes Teams for Market Checking and rate enforcement of essential commodities

Srinagar : A meeting of all Sectoral/Zonal Officers was on Wednesday held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad here at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex to review the arrangements for the upcoming auspicious Festival of Eid-ul-Azha.
Besides, representatives of J&K Wakf Board, the meeting was attended by Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir, Superintendent of Police(Hqtr), SP Traffic, Superintending Engineers of R&B, PDD and PHE, SDM, East, SDM, West, Chief Medical Officer, all City Tehsildars, and other officers from Animal Husbandry, FCS&CA, SRTC, Sheep Husbandry, and other Departments.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner took a Department wise review of the arrangements being put in place for smooth celebrations of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festivities in the District.
The DC passed directions to all Departments to take elaborate measures well in advance for smooth celebrations of auspicious Eid-ul-Azha festivities.
On the occasion, the DC constituted Tehsil wise Joint Market Checking Teams to curb any black marketing and hoardings ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The Market Checking Teams headed by concerned Tehsildars comprises of concerned Naib Tehsildar, SHO, Food Safety Inspector, Tehsil Supplies Officer Ward Officer and concerned Legal Metrology Officer shall work under the supervision of SDM East and SDM West to ensure that all essential commodities are sold at Government approved rates with standard quality and sufficient availability in the markets.
During the meeting, the DC urged upon Sectoral Officers of PHE and PDD to ensure uninterrupted supply of water and electricity during auspicious occasion days particularly at prominent Shrines and Masjid particularly at Hazratbal Shrine, Kahnkahi Mohalla, Ziyarat Makdoom Sahib(RA), Dastageer Sahib(RA), Khanyar, Ziyarat Syed Yaqoob Sahib(RA), Sonwar etc. He asked the PHE department to keep water tankers in ready state to cater any exigent need while proper backup by the PDD.
The DC directed the SMC authorities to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness at all the places particularly around prominent Ziyarats and Masjids besides ensuring proper functioning of all street lights. The SMC was also asked to take proper measures to tackle dog menace. The SMC authorities were also asked to take necessary measures for the collection of hides and offals of sacrificial animals within the Municipal area of Srinagar.
The Chief Medical Officer, Srinagar was asked to set up a first aid medical camp at Hazratbal Shrine while a large congregation is expected to offer Eid prayers.
Similarly, the Traffic Police authorities were asked to ensure smooth movement of traffic across the City and issue necessary route plans if required to overcome any traffic jams, while concerned were directed to ensure adequate transport arrangements during Eid days.
Emphasising on intensifying market checking, the DC directed for activating market inspection teams to check the quality of food items such as Bakery, Confectionery, Milk, Meat Chicken, Vegetables and other essentials in the market and taking strict action against the erring traders. All City Tehsildars were asked to conduct special market checking drives in their respective jurisdictions, besides taking measures to ensure that Sacrificial Goat/Sheep are sold at notified rates.
The DC directed for deployment of Magistrates at the prominent Shrines of the City for smooth conduct of congregation prayers.
The DC also took stock of the notified sales points for selling Sacrificial Animals and for the upcoming Eid-Ul-Azha.
Earlier, the DC was apprised by the Wakf Board authorities that large congregational Eid Prayers are expected to be held at prominent Shrines of the District including Dargah Hazratbal where devotees in large number are expected to participate in Eid-ul-Azha Prayers. The DC was apprised that arrangements including Public Address System, Shamiyanas etc are being made by the Wakf itself on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
