Drug peddler arrested in Ang, Contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Janglatmandi at a checkpoint established at Brackpora Anantnag intercepted a vehicle (Tata Mobile) bearing registration number JK21B-0743 driven by Sham Lal S/o Bahadur Ram R/o Saror Jammu, adding therein that during search, 25.770 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered from the said vehicle and later the accused was accordingly arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody. Police in it’s statement also said thatthe vehicle used in the commission of crime too been seized.
Stating that police accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Anantnag and initiated further course of investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that it will take strict actions against those found indulging in any social elements.
