Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu chairs 4th SAC meeting of KVK Samba

Samba: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samba organized 4th Scientific Advisory Committee meeting on Saturday at KVK, Head Quarter under the chairmanship of Prof. Surinder Kumar Gupta, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu.
The meeting was attended by member DDC, Subash Bhagat, Chairman BDC, Radha Krishan and Dr. Sabhajeet Singh, Senior Scientist and IIIM representative of Regional Institute.
The meeting was organized to deliberate upon the progress report of 2020-21, 2021-22 and finalize the action plan of 2023-24.
In the meeting, officers of the various line departments shared their valuable information. The meeting was attended by the district heads of line department including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Sericulture, Divisional Forest Officer, Information Officer, Social Welfare Officer, Fisheries, Small Scale Industry, Irrigation Officer, Lead Bank Manager, District Development Manager NABARD, Soil Conservation Officer, Farmers and Farm Women.
Prof. S.K. Gupta, Vice Chancellor, in his presidential address, suggested KVK to spread maximum awareness on integrated Farming System, Value addition of Fruits and Vegetables, promotion of Protected Cultivation and dairying to the farmers of the Samba district. He laid emphasis on increasing the farmer income manifold through various agro technological interventions. He appreciated the strong linkages between KVK and all the development departments for the benefit of the farming community and congratulated Prof. Sanjay Khajuria and his dynamic team. Subash Bhagat, Member DDC appreciated the work done by the KVK, Samba and assured all cooperation for the welfare of the farmers. Radha Krishan, Chairman BDC apprised the house about the different initiatives of the KVK in different blocks of the district Samba and their contribution in improving the livelihood of the farmers. Pritam Chand, Sarpanch Samlah participated in the programme and highlighted the role of the KVK and activities undertaken in the village by the KVK.
Earlier, the meeting was initiated with the welcome address of Prof. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief Scientist and Head KVK, Samba who presented the detail Annual Progress Report of KVK, Samba for the year 2021-22, 2022-23 and action taken report towards the suggestion receive during the third SAC meeting. During the deliberation, Prof. Sanjay Khajuria appraised the August House about the Salient Research and Extension achievement of KVK, Samba. Therefore, the action plan for the financial year 2023-24 was also presented before the house for the discussion and approval. The progressive farmers and farm women also participated in the programme. He also deliberated on various issues and urged upon KVK to work with dedication and Enthusiasm with the farmers for doubling the income of farmers, which was highly appreciated by the August House.
The programme was organized by the active participation of Dr. Abhay Sinha, Dr. Saurav Gupta, Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma, Dr Mandeep Singh Azad, Dr. Amit Mahajan and Dr. Shalini Khajuria,Bharat Bhushan, Tajinder singh . The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Saurav Gupta.
