Police arrests 5 JeM militants behind Udhampur labourer killing on May 29

Srinagar: Police in Anantnag on Friday said that it has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the killing of an Udhampur labourer on May 29 and have successfully apprehended five militants of Kashmir Freedom Fighters (KFF), an offshoot of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militant outfit responsible for the killing.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on 29th May this year at around 2115hrs unknown militants borne on a scooty rode upto the amusement park near GMC Anantnag and with the assistance of their illegally procured arms/ ammunition, fired upon a non-local labourer namely Deepak Kumar@ Deepu son of Mashu resident of Thial, Panchayat Deot Bilaspur, Udhampur, causing serious and fatal injuries to him who after being shifted to GMC Anantnag was declared brought dead by doctors, recalling therein that the militants fled from the spot.
Stating that the police had accordingly registered a case vide FIR NO 171/2023 U/S 7, 27 Arms Act, 302 IPC, 16, 18, 20, 39 ULAP Act and investigation was set into motion, Police in it’s above referred statement said that during investigation, five militants were arrested and were found associated with a militant group called Kashmir Freedom Fighters (KFF), an offshoot of JeM militant outfit , adding therein that One AK-47, One AK 47 Magazine, 40 rounds of AK 47, 02 Pistol, Two Pistol Magazines, 7 Live rounds, 7 Empty Fired Cartridges, 3 Hand Grenades, 7 Mobile Phones, and Scooty bearing registration No. JK03M-0442 was also seized.
Police in its statement also said that the said five militants have been arrested and identified as Sehran Bashir Nadaf S/o Bashir Ahmad Nadaf R/o Shirpora Deva Colony, Ubaid Nazir Laigroo S/o Nazir Ahmad Laigroo R/o Shirpora New Colony, Umer Amin Thoker S/o Mohd Amin R/o Waghama, Huzaif Shabir Bhat S/o Shabir Ahmad Bhat R/o Wachi Shopian and Nasir Farooq Shah S/o Farooq Ahmad Shah R/o Wanteng Mohalla Bijbehara.
Moreover, police in it’s statement furthermore said that the prime accused namely Sehran Bashir had been trained by a militant handler code @Khalid Kamran via WhatsApp video call regarding usage of weaponry who were instructed to find and attack minority community soft targets and instructed about mode of recce and other details.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police said that the entire conspiracy of how weapons were sourced, passed on and routed to the actual trigger puller and how to maintain communication discipline as well as how to cover tracks and hide evidence has been uncovered, adding therein that more leads are under investigation and some further developments in the case are expected.
