Srinagar: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal on Thursday visited various Farmer’s fields under exotic vegetable cultivation program at Naira Pulwama.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture highlighted the commercial importance of exotic vegetables for the agri-economy of the region. He interacted with the farmers engaged with the cultivation of exotic vegetables in the district and farmers also shared their views and experiences with the Director.
He said to the farmers that special interventions have been proposed for the promotion of exotic vegetable cultivation on commercial lines in the region. He assured them of every possible support from the department for the development of the agriculture sector.
Director Agriculture directed the officials of the department to keep a close liaison with the farmers and ensure the awareness under Kisan Sampark Abhiyan so that farmers are able to submit the application under various projects of HADP on its dashboard so that maximum benefits are provided to them.
He further emphasized on the need of handholding of the farmers and redressal of their grievances regarding the handling of the dashboard designed under HADP.
He also directed the concerned chief agriculture officer Pulwama to constitute a HADP cell at district level so that grievances are redressed at an earliest and a hustle free system is put in place for successful implementation of the programme and targets fixed for the year 2023-24 are achieved in full. Later, the Director Agriculture Kashmir visited IIKSTC Dusso.
