NEET-2023 topper Abdul Basit makes JK proud Pulwama youth secures 113th rank

Srinagar : In UG National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2023 results, Abdul Basit has bagged first position from Jammu and Kashmir.
At All India Ranking (AIR), Basit has secured 113th rank.
Hailing from Chewa-Kalam village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Basit says that the hard work and dedication are the primary keys to crack any prestigious exams.
Talking to reporters Basit said, “I have been preparing for NEET for four years.” “I started receiving coaching from Aakash Coaching Institutes from 9th to 12th standard,” he said.
Basit says that among the three siblings, he and his elder brother are already into MBBS courses.
“My brother is already pursuing MBBS in Iran and I wish my younger brother will also show the same dedication to crack any prestigious exam to make our village and our district proud,” he said.
Basit further said that his father is working in fisheries department and he was inspired by his uncle who works in health and medical education department.
Pertinently, in 2022, the pass percentage of UG NEET qualifiers had increased by nearly 10 percent in Jammu and Kashmir corresponding to the previous year
In NEET-2021, only 42.59 percent students from JK had qualified the exams. But this year, more than 52 percent of students have qualified for the exams. .
The official figures revealed by the National Testing Agency showed that in 2022, a total of 38,140 students had registered from JK and of them 36,374 appeared and 20,005 qualified it.
Likewise, in 2021, a total of 34, 615 candidates had registered from JK out of which 31,479 appeared and 14,743 qualified.
The list of 2023 was yet to be published by the NTA.
Pertinently, the National Testing Agency on Tuesday announced UG National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2023 results.
