Distt level multi-sports tournament commences at Doda

Doda: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, on Tuesday inaugurated a multi-sports district level inter-zonal tournament for different age groups of student players here in the Sports Stadium.
This highly anticipated event, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Doda will continue till July 20, 2023 and witness participation of student players from 10 zones of the district who will participate in an array of indoor and outdoor games.
A total of 23 different games are scheduled to be played during the tournament. The participating zones included Assar, Bhalla, Bhaderwah, Doda, Ghat Bhellesa, Thathri, and Gundna, all eager to showcase their athletic skills and sportsmanship. The tournament would continue till July 28, 2023.
During the oath ceremony that preceded the tournament, the participants took a solemn pledge to uphold the values of fair play and integrity.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of sports in leading a healthy life. He highlighted that sports activities foster a sense of sportsmanship and cultivate a sound mind.
The inaugural match of the tournament commenced with an exciting volleyball game, setting the tone for the days of intense competitions and camaraderie that lay ahead.
Among others present at the inauguration function were the District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jaffar Haider Sheikh and physical education teachers and eager participants, all exuding an air of anticipation and eagerness.
The district level inter-zonal tournament in Doda serves as a platform for athletes to exhibit their talent, compete with peers from different zones, and celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship. This grand event not only aims to foster a love for sports but also promotes a healthy lifestyle among individuals of all ages within the community. With a diverse range of games on offer, the tournament promises to captivate sports enthusiasts and inspire the younger generation to pursue an active and balanced way of life.
