Civil Admin , Police in B’gam launches intensive drive against Poppy cultivation

Budgam : The Civil Administration and Police Budgam through a joint mission towards eradicating poppy cultivation in the district has destroyed poppy cultivation spread over two kanals of land in two areas of the district.
The drive was conducted by police department, excise and revenue officials under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Budgam and SSP Budgam.
The action was carried out with utmost efficiency, and a considerable portion of land under the illegal cultivation of poppy plants was destroyed and burnt in Char-e-Sharief and Yarisathroo area of Budgam.
This intensive drive against poppy cultivation is part of the efforts towards curbing the use and spread of drugs in the area.
Cases FIR Nos 35/2023 and 68/2023 under relevant sections of law are registered at Police Station Charar-e-sharief and Police station Khansahib respectively.
The District Administration and Budgam Police have appealed to the public to extend their cooperation in such drives against drug abuse.
