Srinagar: The Associated Hospital (AH), Govt Medical College (GMC) in Baramulla district of North Kashmir has started performing advanced surgeries with first-of-its-kind of surgery done successfully, the officials said.
Talking to Kashmir Horizon, the officials said that, “an elderly patient from poor background suffering from bilateral knee pain from last 6-7 years was taking pain killers regularly for relief of pain, and was advised knee replacement.” They said, “the cost of surgery in private was out of reach for him, but his ‘knee replacement’ surgery was performed successfully, with patient doing well post operation.” “We have started ambulating him on first post operative day. This surgery was done under Ayushman shear scheme free of cost in our hospital. We will be doing more surgeries in future, In Sha Allah,” the officials said.
A statement issued by the hospital reads “Under dynamic leadership of Principal Medical College Dr. Ruby Reshi, department of orthopaedics, AH, GMC Baramulla performed this procedure first-of-its-kind in newer medical Colleges and in North Kashmir.”
The statement reads that, “the surgery was done with the tireless efforts of HOD orthopedics, Dr A.R. Budoo, Dr Zamir Ali, Associate Professor, department of orthopedics, and anesthesia team led by HOD anesthesia, Dr Basharat Saleem and associates. As per the hospital management, many more advance surgeries are to be done in the department of orthopedics, AH, GMC, Baramulla.
