Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug smuggler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarter Srinagar Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Uri under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shokat Ali during naka checking at Saidpora Uri intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and after proper search, 80 grams of Heroin like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Mehmood Shah S/o Ghulam Nabi Shah R/o Nambla Uri who has accordingly been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Uri and initiated an investigation into the case, Police
in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that it will act strictly against the people indulging in drug peddling and other anti-social activities as per law.
