DC Jammu conducts extensive tour of Kharaballi, listens to public grievances

Jammu: To get first-hand account of the public grievances, Deputy Commissioner, Avny Lavasa on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of Panchayat Mallah in block Kharaballi, which is the last panchayat of District Jammu.
DDC members, delegations besides scores of individuals apprised her about the problems faced by the people in day to day life.
The PRI members, one by one, highlighted the issues regarding their respective Panchayats which were mainly related to irregular supply of water and electricity, Revenue, compensation, ration card, IAY, Road connectivity, drinking water availability, health centres etc.
The local residents apprised the Deputy Commissioner about non availability of teachers and doctors and demanded adequate staff for the convenience of people.
Appraising about the poor road connectivity, the locals demanded for road connectivity from Neeli Nallah to Sairala and Neeli Nallah to Jogma.
They also demanded a veterinary doctor, ambulance facility, SRTC bus service and Bank service for the far flung area of Block Kharaballi.
Pointing out the unemployment among educated youth, the villagers sought help for establishment of small units to create job/ self employment opportunities for the youth.
The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the PRI members, delegations and individuals and passed on the spot directions to the concerned officers for early redressal of their genuine grievances.
Regarding road connectivity, the Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned officials to tender the works and complete the same in the stipulated time frame.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the officials to organise a camp under Kisan Sampark Abhiyan to educate the people regarding government sponsored schools for the establishment of self employment units.
She assured that the other highlighted issues of public importance will be taken up with higher authorities.
DDC member, Bhushan Abrol; SDM Kharaballi, Anil Thakur; Tehsildar, Ramesh Chander; PRI members along with other officers of the line departments and a large number of people were present at the program.
