MDS organises 3-Day workshop on Mushroom Cultivation

Jammu : In view of increased demand of Mushroom in (J&K), Mushroom Development Scheme (MDS) Jammu organised three day training workshop on Modern techniques of mushroom production to transform farmers as agrienterpenures with special emphasize on Button, Dhingri and Milky mushroom.
More than 20 Mushroom Growers from Bishnah, R.S. Pura, Akhnoor, Dansal Marh area participated in the training programme held at Krishi Bhawan Talab Tillo, Jammu.
Sanjay Dhar, Mushroom Development Officer Jammu, while interacting with farmers (Mushroom Growers) said that now the mushroom can be produced round the year and gives more profit within a short period of time with less investment. He further said that the cultivation of all the three types of mushroom has very good potential for the new growers particularly the unemployed youths, landless/border area farmers and women because of its easy method of cultivation and less investment.
Earlier, R.K. Hitaishi, Joint Director (Exten.) Jammu and A.S. Reen, Joint Director (Inputs) interacted with trainess and inaugurated the session.
Kamaljeet Sharma, Subject Matter Specilist-III discussed the cultivation practices of all the varieties of mushroom being cultivated in Jammu District. Bhupinder Singh and. Mohan Singh, Agriculture Extension Assistant also interacted with the growers and advised the growers to grow Mushrooms.
Concludingly, Certificates of participation in the training programme were also handed to Mushroom growers who participated in the 3 day training programme.
