Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested five (5) persons and also seized 5 vehicles from their possession for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Tangmarg under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiaz Ahmad seized three tractors and also arrested three persons for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Ferozpora Nallah Tangmarg following which the accused were identified as Bahadur Ahmad Ahangar S/o Mohd Sultan, Gh Mohiuddin Lone S/o Abdul Ahad Lone & Sajad Ahmad Lone S/o Abdul Ahad Lone, all residents of Ferozpora Tangmarg.
Police in its statement further said that in an another similar action,a police party of Police Station Kreeri seized two tractors and arrested two drivers namely Javid Ahmad Mir and Mehraj Uddin Mir sons of Gh Qadir Mir residents of Saloosa at Ningli Nallah Saloosa after finding them involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and initiated an investigation into the case, accordingly, Police In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that it will act tough against the people indulging in illegal mining and other anti-social activities and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
