DC Pulwama convenes introductory meeting of DDC, BDC Members

Pulwama: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom on Thursday convened an introductory meeting with District Development Council Pulwama in the conference hall of DC office, here to get first hand appraisal development issues concerning their areas.
DDC, Chairperson Pulwama, Syed Abdul Bari Andrabi, Vice-Chairperson. District Development Council, Mukhtar Ahmed Bandh, DDC and BDC Members attended the meeting.
At the outset, the CEO (ADDC) DDC, Abdul Aziz Sheikh welcomed the Council Chairperson and the Members and apprised them about the objectives of the meeting.
On the occasion, Chairperson District Development Council Pulwama, Syed Bari Indrabi highlighted the importance of Working in tandem and coordination for development and welfare measures, he appreciated the administration for its support and completion of set out deliverables.
DDC Members highlighted several demands and sought their timely redressal in order to accomplish the goal of development at grass roots level.
The DDCs/ BDCs gave a brief overview of their respective constituencies. They discussed and raised important issues with Deputy Commissioner regarding the development of their concerned areas/ constituencies like playfields, road connectivity, water and electricity supply in far-flung areas among other general issues.
Apart from speaking on the developmental aspect, the Deputy Commissioner said that the role of Public Representatives and general public is very important in this regard. He assured that all the developmental concerns of PRIs shall be fulfilled so that the vision of democratic decentralisation is realised.
The Officers of line departments were directed to maintain close coordination with the PRIs while framing the work plans as proposed by the elected members.
He also expressed full commitment for strengthening the Panchayat Raj Institution and empowering the people at grassroots level. He said that DDC members are the eyes and ears of Administration and people have reposed faith in them for embarking the ladder of development and prosperity.
Officers of the district including ACR, CPO, ACD and others were present in the meeting.
