Red Cross Society as all know is a global humanitarian organisation . As the world Red Cross Day was celebrated on May 8 in Jammu & Kashmir the way it was celebrated in almost all states and union territories of the country, the reach out to the hapless populations hit by the natural calamities or the disturbances due to unusual human interventions with the spirit of mitigating the sufferings of the victims of such situation remains the main motive of celebrating World Red Cross Day. During past few years world was shaken by the high intensity waves of Covid-19 pandemic due to which thousands of people saw the worst ever phases of economic slowdown taking away their livelihoods and consequently the scope for interventions by Red Cross Society for mitigating the sufferings of the victims of such situation has as much increased in Jammu & Kashmir as much it has increased almost equally in several states and union territories of the country . Fortunately people in Jammu & Kashmir like populations in many states and union territories of the country are coming out from the difficult phase of economic slowdown triggered by Covid-19 pandemic almost two years back. Very rightly the Jammu & Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha as head of Red Cross Society in Jammu and Kashmir in his message on World Red Cross Day has asked the Red Cross Society to dedicate itself for the services of the poor and needy across Jammu & Kashmir. The public awareness programs conducted by Deputy Commissioners with the spirit of serving the poor and needy at their respective headquarters won’t only generate the spirit of selfless public service among the people across Jammu & Kashmir but it would also generate sense of courage and self help among the people in distress either due to the difficulties that cropped up during high intensity waves of Covid-19 pandemic or because of the losses farmers suffered due to unprecedented weather vagaries witnessed in Jammu & Kashmir like several states and union territories of the country in recent years.
“Morality demands that people join hands with Red Cross Society with the spirit of partnership in the process of humanitarian aid and assistance as this is the only way to strengthen the spirit of humanitarian aid and assistance across Jammu & Kashmir”.
To upkeep it’s commitments of serving the poor and needy on seven Fundamental Principles of Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality for mitigation of human sufferings, the mobilization of resources and engagement of volunteers for the humanitarian aid and assistance in the most difficult times are the two biggest challenges for the Red Cross Society in Jammu & Kashmir like several states and union territories of the country. Morality demands that people join hands with Red Cross Society with the spirit of partnership in the process of humanitarian aid and assistance as this is the only way to strengthen the spirit of humanitarian aid and assistance across Jammu & Kashmir.
