Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested six drug peddlers in Budgam and also recovered contraband substances & cash from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Post Soibugh during naka checking at Nadigam crossing intercepted a vehicle (Innova) bearing registration number JK05D- 9350 with three persons onboard, recovered 33.50 grams of charas like substance and cash amount of Rs. 32,030/- from their possession,adding therein said that the said accused persons were identified as Mohd Umer Doom S/o Ghulam Ahmad Doom R/o Chairhaar, Shahbaz Shafi Dar S/o Mohd Shafi Dar R/o Mirpora and Sajjad Hussain Rather S/o Mohammad Issaq R/o Sofi Pora Soibugh.
Police in it’s above quoted statement said that similarly at Chewdara near Maripora crossing, the police party of Police Station Beerwah arrested two persons alongwith 55 grams of charas like substance and 240 Spasmo-Proxyvon plus tablets , adding therein that the accused were identified as Gulam Nabi Bhat S/o Khazir Mohamad Bhat and Athar Sadiq Najar S/o Mohamad Sadiq Najar both the residents of Chewdara.
Stating that in an another similar action Police Station Khansahab during naka checking at Raithan intercepted a suspicious person and accordingly recovered 80 grams of charas like substance from his possession, adding therein that the accused was later identified as Moomin Ashaq Mir S/o Ashiq Hussain Mir R/o Jawalapora Budgam, Police in it’s above quoted statement futher said that all the accused persons involved in the commission of crime have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.
Police in it’s statement further said that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and initiated an investigation into these cases to ascertain the facts on ground. Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement urged people to cooperate with it by informing the concerned police station regarding drug peddling activities in their neighborhood. Police in it’s statement however warned people that those found indulging in anti-social activities will be dealt as per law.
