Pulwama : The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Basharat Qayoom on Wednesday presided over Weekly Block Diwas at Town Hall, MC, Pampore.
People from various areas of the tehsil flagged-off developmental issues, grievances pertaining to construction of Indoor Stadium at Pampore and Konibal, adequate drinking water availability, uninterrupted power supply, road connectivity and other rural development works and public welfare measures before the DDC.
The DDC listened to all public issues and demands and issued directions to the concerned officers for resolving and meeting the demands on priority basis. Certain issues of emergent nature were redressed on the spot.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that Block Diwas is transforming the contours of local governance and is an effective mechanism of people’s participation besides a reflection of peoples’ confidence in public institutions.
It leads to a better connection between the Administration and people and ensures effective planning and implementation of developmental goals through vibrant participation of stakeholders, added DDC.
He stressed upon the officers to prioritize the demands and redress them within the stipulated timelines.
The DDC exhorted upon the departments and PRIs to work in tandem in order to benefit the common masses of the area.
Besides, stalls displaying the schemes of various departments were also set up on the occasion for the common awareness of masses.
The DDC inspected Sub District Hospital Pampore, interacted with the patients and attendants, enquired about their well-being and emphasized upon the health functionaries for providing all health care facilities to the patients admitted there. He also checked OPD, Operation Theatre and other wards of the hospital.
DDC visited Konibal Pampore where Agriculture Production Department had organised a programme under Kisan Sampark Abhiyan, aimed at providing farmers with necessary knowledge and skills to adopt sustainable friendly agricultural practices.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that the farmers shall be able to orient themselves about projects designated for their welfare and development under the programme and asked farmers to avail the opportunity and employ latest technological interventions in the sector for their economic benefits.
The DDC further exhorted upon the trainers/officers to educate the farmers about the programme in detail and ensure the increased participation of farmers.
On this occasion, people of Konibal put forth some demands of public importance which were heard patiently and assured for early redressal.
