Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a bootlegger and also recovered huge quantity of illicit liquor from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Mandhole Crossing on NHW-44 intercepted a suspicious person carrying a bag who after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and identified as Ram Lal S/o Mehram resident of Rajasthan, adding therein that during searches 10 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the possession of the said accused who was later on arrested accordingly and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that during investigation, 205 more bottles of Illicit liquor were recovered from the residence (rented room) of the said accused at Vessu near Jammu-Srinagar highway on his disclosure, Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 75/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and further investigation has been also initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding anti-social elements in their neighbourhood but warned the people that those found indulging in anti-social activities will be dealt as per law.
