DC Kathua rolls out priorities for Comprehensive Dev, Good Governance

DC outlines his vision for Holistic Economic Growth of the Distt

Kathua : Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rakesh Minhas on Tuesday held a media briefing wherein he underlined the key sectors/ priority works on which District Administration will be focusing on to take the district to new heights of growth.
At the outset, the DC said that integrity will be the cornerstone of our administration. “We will uphold the highest ethical standards and ensure that all government schemes and programs are implemented with complete honesty, integrity and transparency,” he said.
Responding to media queries, he said, “We will focus on the comprehensive development of the district, with special emphasis on social welfare measures. Our aim is to improve the quality of life of all residents of Kathua district with a special focus on vulnerable communities”, he added.
Referring to the issues faced by Border dwellers, he said the development of the border belt of the district, with special attention to the farming community, will be a key priority. He further added that providing better irrigation facilities, access to credit and promoting sustainable & innovative farming techniques will be the top priority to boost farmers’ income in line with PM’s Vision of Doubling the Farmers’ income. “We will strive for the saturation of all government schemes to ensure that benefits reach every eligible beneficiary. We will work to bridge the gap between the administration and the people to ensure that every resident of Kathua is aware of and has access to government schemes and programs” he added.
To prioritize the resolution of public grievances in a timely and effective manner, the DC said that the district administration will be accessible to all and it will work to ensure that every complaint is heard and acted upon.
Highlighting the importance of employment generation, the DC said he believes that entrepreneurship and innovation are critical drivers of economic growth and job creation.
On the issue of creating an enabling atmosphere for setting up Industries in Kathua, the DC said the same would be done by promoting access to finance, technology and other resources for entrepreneurs and innovators. “We are committed to create a favorable business environment, which will attract investors and boost the economy and will make Kathua an industrial hub of the region” he added.
While summing up his vision, the DC said that “Good governance will be the foundation of the district administration and ‘we will ensure that our policies and decisions are guided by the principles of efficiency, accountability, and transparency.’ He further reiterated the commitment of the district administration to working with all stakeholders to bring about a positive change and development.
