Disaster Management Plan pertaining to all divisions/deptts discussed
New Delhi : Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager Northern Railways held a performance review meeting with the departmental heads of Northern Railway and DRMs through video conferencing from Baroda House, NR headquarter office in New Delhi. Amongst many issues deliberations were on Safety on tracks, enhancement of speed, train operations, Business Development Units and Freight loading.
Apart from performance review the GM also presented Safety Awards to 6 vigilant employees for their contribution towards maintain high standards for safety and security of passengers and railway property. He presented awards to the staff deputed in operation/RPF for outstanding work in maintaining highest safety standard. He also discussed the Disaster Management Plan pertaining to all divisions and departments of NR
Chaudhuri congratulated to the winners of safety awards and appeals railwaymens to give their hundred percent to prevent safety of passengers and Railway assets. Hesaid, Safety is the prime focus over Railways. The GM emphasized on improving the maintenance standards of tracks, level crossings and construction of boundary wall along the track in high speed sections. He took serious note of the trespassing on line. He also advised to make efforts to clear encroachment near the railway tracks to ensure safety.
The GM emphasized that, visual examination and lubrication of rail joints and welds should also be completed on priority. He also instructed that night patrolling inspections should be enhanced. The GM discussed various untoward incidents reported in the past week. Status of rail and weld fractures, LC gates, yard derailments and OHE failures were discussed in detail. He also reviewed the status of various important construction projects of Doubling and New lines and directed officials to expedite the work.
GM took stock of detention of trains due to crew change at crew changing points and instructed the divisions to implement crew changing within shortage possible time so that the delay of trains on account of crew changing can be minimized. He also instructed the department heads and DRMs, to maintain the punctuality and keep pace for freight loading with safety as priority. He further said that, the monitoring system of progress of construction projects should also be a prime focus area as the development/improvement of railways are very much dependent on these projects.
