Kathua : The Kathua series of LG’s Special Grievance camp for West Pakistani Refugees of 1947 was held Monday here in the Community Facilitation Centre, Airwan in Tehsil Nagri-Parole where community members turned up in large numbers.
The LG’s Special Governance Camp was aimed at addressing the issues concerning the West Pakistani Refugees and to provide them necessary support and assistance in availing various government schemes.
ACR Vishav Pratap Singh, presided over the proceedings of the camp wherein members of the community were present in large numbers.
While speaking on the occasion, the ACR said the initiative is a great platform to deliberate upon the issues related to WPRs of 1947 where both the administration and community members can come together to find solutions to the long pending problems of the community.
On the occasion stalls of different departments exhibiting their schemes and programmes were set up to impart awareness to the participants.
The District officers disseminated information about various government schemes during the camp and attendees appreciated the efforts of the LG-led government for addressing the grievances of the community members.
On the occasion, several deputations submitted memorandum of demands and urged the administration to ensure resolution of their demands and grievances.
Pertinently, the district administration has planned similar camps at Tehsil levels so as to provide doorstep public services delivery to WPRs, besides extending them proper hand holding to uplift their socio economic conditions.
As per the schedule, a similar camp will be held in Tehsil Marheen on May 02, the venue of the camp is Banquet Hall, Haria Chak.
Similarly, in Tehsil Kathua, the camp will be held on May 03 at the Office Building of Patwar Halqa, near District Employment & Counselling Centre Kathua. Likewise, in Tehsil Hiranagar the camp will be held on May 4, the venue of the camp is Town Hall Hiranagar.
