5 drug peddlers arrested in Bla, contraband substances also recovered: Police

“156 drug peddlers arrested, 9 booked under PSA, contraband worth crores recovered in the Distt during last 4 months”

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it arrested 5 drug peddlers in Baramulla, Sopore & Ganderbal and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla district, a police party led by Incharge Police Post Delina under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Sajjad Bukhari at a checkpoint established at Khushalpora Delina intercepted a vehicle (Scorpio) bearing registration number JK01AS-5295 driven by one person and upon checking recovered 10 grams of Cocaine & 15 grams of Charas like substances from the possession of the said accused identified as Jaleel Ahmad Shah S/o Nazir Ahmad Shah R/o Kanispora who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized. Police in it’s statement further said that during the past 4 months, Police in Baramulla have registered 115 cases under NDPS Act, arrested 156 drug peddlers including 10 most wanted drug smugglers, detained 9 drug peddlers under PSA and recovered contraband substances worth crores (value of contraband in black market).
Meanwhile Police in it’s statement said that in Sopore also, a police party of Police Station Panzla during naka checking at Bagat Colony Rohama intercepted two suspicious persons and during checking recovered 113 grams of Charas like substance from their possession following which the accused were identified as Muhammad Lateef Lone S/o Muhammad Sultan Lone and Aadil Ahmad Lone S/o Muhammad Rajab Lone both residents of Naidhal Rafiabad who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Saying that in Ganderbal district also, a police party of PP Shadipora during patrolling near Satkreeri intercepted a vehicle (Wagnor) bearing registration number DL2CAK-3882 with two persons on board and during checking, recovered contraband substances from their possession, Police in it’s statement further said that the said accused were identified as Gh Mohammad Ahanger S/o Gh Ahmad Ahanger R/o Nesbal and Irfan Ahmad Bhat S/o Gh Nabi Bhat R/o Kharbagh and they were subsequenrly arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, adding therein that the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Stating that police has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law
