Apple orchards have virtually change into landfills as both the people and as well as the heads of municipal and panchayat bodies least bother about the garbage lifting and it’s disposal in towns and villages across Jammu & Kashmir. While the elections to panchayats and municipal bodies generated hopes about improvement in basic civic facilities particularly lifting of garbage and it’s disposal years ago, the apple orchards have virtually changed into landfills with people in villages and towns carelessly throwing all sorts of waste into apple orchards just to put the growth and development apple orchards in danger. Though village panchayats, Block Development Councils (BDCs) and District Development Councils (DDCs) the three types of panchayat bodies and the municipalities of towns are about to complete five year term after few months from now but unfortunately not even a single garbage dumping site like the one used by Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) in Achan area of the summer capital for almost last more than a decade has been identified in a single town or a single village in either Kashmir Valley or Jammu division for scientific disposal of the waste so for. ____________________________________________________________

“Since the increasing trends and tendencies to raise huge dumps of garbage in apple orchards and open lands used for paddy cultivation does not head to any dead end in almost all the villages and towns equally in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division for almost last five years, people expect Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to take a serious view of the increasing negligence of the village panchayats, Block Development Councils (BDCs) and District Development Council the three types of panchayat bodies and as well as municipalities of towns and review the implementation of waste disposal system with Chief Secretary and Administrative Secretaries of both the urban and rural development departments besides the Directors of Rural Development and Urban Local Bodies Departments of both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division for the purposes of making waste disposal system a grand success in villages and as well as towns at the earliest” .

Knowing that such a huge negligence in implementing waste disposal system is going against the basic spirit of “Swachh Bharat” scheme introduced by none else than the Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself almost nine years ago, neither the village panchayats, Block Development Councils (BDCs) and District Development Councils (DDCs) the three types of panchayat bodies nor the municipalities of towns elected almost five years back don’t wake up from deep slumber to introduce waste disposal system in their own areas of electoral and administrative jurisdictions and change them into models of cleanliness atleast to show respect to Prime Minister’s “Swacch Bharat” scheme. Since the increasing trends and tendencies to raise huge dumps of garbage in apple orchards and open lands used for paddy cultivation does not head to any dead end in almost all the villages and towns equally in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division for almost last five years, people expect Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to take a serious view of the increasing negligence of the village panchayats, Block Development Councils (BDCs) and District Development Council the three types of panchayat bodies and as well as municipalities of towns and review the implementation of waste disposal system with Chief Secretary and Administrative Secretaries of both the urban and rural development departments besides the Directors of Rural Development and Urban Local Bodies Departments of both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division for the purposes of making waste disposal system a grand success in villages and as well as towns at the earliest .
