Police arrests militant associate in Sopore

Srinagar: Police alongwith Army on Wednesday arrested a militant associate of JeM militant outfit in Sopore with an incriminating materials and one hand grenade have also been recovered from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs a joint MVCP was established by Police & Army (52RR) at Hygam near railway crossing bridge in the jurisdiction of police station Tarzoo, adding therein that during searches one suspected person was intercepted who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert joint party and during more searches incriminating materials and a hand grenade were recovered from his possession. Police in it’s statement further said that the arrested militant associate has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Wani S/o Ab Rashid Wani R/o Wagoob Hygam.
Stating that during preliminary investigation, it came to fore that he was working as a militant associate for JeM militant outfit and was in a constant search of an opportunity to carry out attacks on security forces and civilians including outside employees, Police in it’s statement further said that it has also registered a case FIR No. 40/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Tarzoo and initiated further course of investigation into the case.
