Intermittent rains continue to lash Kashmir parts on 2nd straight day

Weatherman predicts more rains; Embankment of river Jhelum damaged at Abi Guzar, CE I&FC says will look into matter

Srinagar: The intermittent rainfall continued to lash Kashmir parts on the second straight day on Wednesday while as the weatherman here has predicted more rains for the next 24 hours.
Reports said that the rains continued to lash Srinagar and other areas of the Valley intermittently since this afternoon, bringing down the temperature in Kashmir.
Director Meteorological department (MeT), Sonum Lotus said that there was a forecast of a brief spell of rain/thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty winds & hailstorm in some places at many places of Kashmir division, Ramban, Banihal, Poonch and Rajouri districts from this afternoon.
He said that the weather would continue to remain wet for the next few days as light rains are expected to continue at scattered places in Kashmir till April 28.
Director MeT also advised farmers to postpone spraying their orchards till May 01, 2023.
Meanwhile, the officials in MeT said that the summer capital of J&K recorded a low of 7.9 degree Celsius while Qazigund and Pahalgam recorded a low of 5.2 degree Celsius and 2.6 degree Celsius respectively.
In Kokernag, the night temperature settled at 3.0 degree Celsius while a famous ski-resort, Gulmarg recorded a low of 3.2 degree Celsius.
Moreover, reports also said that the embankment of river Jhelum has got damaged due to the frequent wet spells from past one week near Peerzoo restaurant here.
The river Jhelum embankment has got damaged due to the rains while the locals said that none from the administration has visited the spot to assess the situation. Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood control (I&FC) department said that he will look into the matter
