Kathua: DDC council discusses finalization of plan under Capex Budget 2023-24

Kathua : To discuss the formulation of developmental plans under District Capex Budget 2023-2024, District Development Council Chairperson Kathua, Mahan Singh, on Monday chaired a meeting of DDC members and concerned District officers, here in the conference Hall of DC Office Complex.
Vice Chairman, DDC, Raghunandan Singh; District Development Commissioner, Rahul Pandey; Senior Superintendent of Police, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal; Chief Planning Officer, DDC members, XEN PDD, CMO, CEO, XEN PHE, XEN irrigation, XEN PMGSY besides other District officers attended the meeting.
At the outset, ADDC, Ankur Mahajan apprised the council about the achievements of last fiscal year 2002-23 besides listing the projects of vital importance completed within stipulated time.
DDC Chairman Col(Retd) Mahan Singh exhorted the council members to take up projects of public importance under current allocation of district Capex so as to meet the popular aspirations of the people.
Underlining the need for timely completion of the projects of critical importance, DDC Chairman said district Kathua, primarily a water deficit/ kandi belt, requires focused attention under JJM to cater to growing drinking water needs. He called for extending proper handholding to Paani Samitis so as to acquaint them with their roles and responsibilities.
The Chairman DDC Kathua suggested adopting patient friendly attitude and behavior in medical institutions so as to rule out any inconvenience to the public coming to the hospital for treatment.
Highlighting the importance of varied agro climatic conditions prevailing in the district, the DDC chairman called for selecting the crop commensurate with the parameters and topographical factors which will increase the yield and pave the way for economic uplift of the farming community.
The Vice chairman DDC highlighted the issue of damage to mango crop inflicted by pests and sought intervention of the Horticulture department to provide solutions to the problem. He further underlined the need to educate the farming community about adoption of organic and eco-friendly pesticides so as to save the crops from impending pest attacks.
DDC Member from Nagrota Gujjroo demanded a contingency plan for providing regular drinking water supply to water deficit areas during the ensuing summer season.
Earlier, DDC Chairman enquired about the status of completion of bani and nayali bridges being executed by PWD (R&B) Basohli besides taking appraisal of construction of Ramkote Govt Degree College, Handcraft & Handloom Centre at Basohli, NABARD roads, Ambulance for Bani and Mahanpur etc.
The DDC Chairperson urged all the DDC members and District officers to coordinate with each other in formulation of rational plans maintaining the sanctity of the 3-tier system of Panchayati Raj.
