Baramulla: In order to review the progress of 11th Agriculture Census Phase 1, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar on Thursday convened a meeting of all the concerned officers at Dak Bungalow, here.
On the occasion, a threadbare discussion was held wherein focus was laid on the collection of data on the number of Agricultural Operational Holders, its land utilization, Tenancy status and irrigation facilities available etc.
This Census is completed in a phased manner and comprises three phases. The first phase of the scheme is based on complete enumeration study, whereas the other two phases are based on survey study.
It was given out that the Ist stage Census has been completed for 16 villages while 261 villages are under process.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the crux of the scheme lies in knowing about the size of the agricultural holding and the number of operational holders in the state/UT.
The Agricultural Census is a large Statistical Operation and the information collected through it is quite significant for the policy planners both at national as well at State/UT level, she informed.
With regard to the Census, the DC said that the enumerators (Patwaries) are supposed to upload the data entries (Survey Numbers) on the given portal which is accepted or rejected by the supervisors (Tehsildars).
She further directed officers of Revenue Department to complete the Census exercise and uploading of data entries on the given portal by 21st April, 2023 which is a deadline date fixed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.
It was also asserted that the 11th Agriculture Census will chart a new course in data collection and dissemination as the traditional method of using pen and papers would be replaced by an Android App and web based system.
Meanwhile, on the sideline of the meeting, target cover of beneficiaries under PM-KISAN was also discussed.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad, District Statistical Officer Ishtiyaq Ahmad Khan besides officers from Revenue, Agriculture and others attended the meeting.
