Jammu: A person was killed and six others injured in a mortar shell blast that took place in a scrap factory on Saturday afternoon in the Industrial Estate, Bari Brahmana of Samba district.
Reports said around 3 pm, a massive explosion took place in Scrap Enterprises, a company owned by Subash Chandra and Sons, which deals with scrap material for its further reuse.
A person identified as Mohan Lal from Rajouri got killed in the explosion while six others were injured. All six persons who sustained injuries have now been sent to Government Medical College (GMC) in the Jammu area.
Sharing details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Samba Benam Tosh said that there is no mystery in the blast. “It’s unfortunate that we lost one valuable life in the incident but there is no mystery in it. The company deals with scrap, and one of the mortar shells that are brought here after neutralising them exploded,” the SSP said while denying any terror angle in the incidents.
Tosh, however, said that an FIR has been registered in the incident and action will be taken against those found guilty.
The police said the injured are from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bishnag, Ramgarh, Ramnagar and Bari Brahmana
