Civic sense is really important phenomenon for building a prosperous and socially improving nation but the lack of it not only disrupt the system of a nation socially but also moves that nation far behind from other nations. Nowadays we are engulfed with technology and new inventions but we all lack civic sense. People do not care much about the civic sense. Civic sense is social ethics as well. It is consideration by the people for the unspoken norms of society. Civic sense is the ability of individuals to have empathy for their fellow human beings and to act in accordance with those feelings. It is the foundation of a healthy nation and it is essential to a functioning society. Every day we witness instances where people act against the norms, like throwing garbage on the road, urinating/defecating in the open and smoking at public places. It is essential to inculcate civic sense in people from a very young age. This can be done only when the school curriculum includes the norms of civic behaviour and we teach our students how to behave. True change will come when everyone realizes his responsibility to ensure a clean and livable environment for everyone. Lack of civic sense is one of the most troubling trends in our society. Too often, people are willing to disregard the law and put their own interests ahead of those of others. This can lead to dangerous consequences, including criminal activity and accidents. It’s not just individuals who are responsible for this problem. Many institutions have contributed to a culture of disregard for the law. We need to work hard to restore a sense of civic responsibility in our society. We can start by encouraging people to respect the law and obey the rules established by authorities. Lack of civic sense has been linked with a number of negative outcomes, including increased violence, decreased trust in institutions, and increased polarization between groups. In fact, research has shown that low levels of civic sense are one of the key predictors of political extremism. We have never been a nation that bothered much about civic sense.
Often we have seen even the basic rules being flouted blatantly. We harp about our constitutional rights whenever we face some problem as a citizen but when it comes to playing our part for the benefit of the whole, either we don’t pay attention or quietly complete our own work and move on, consoling ourselves with the thought: this isn’t our job. Someone else is responsible for it. There are many ways that can help us to develop civic sense. One important factor is exposure to civics education. Unfortunately, too many children today lack even basic exposure to the principles of healthy nation and civic sense. This lack of exposure can lead to a decline in both individual and societal levels of civic sense. It is important for all citizens to participate in their community and help foster a strong sense of civic identity. By encouraging people to become more engaged in their communities, we can help promote a healthier society overall. We can also promote public education about the importance of obeying regulations and respecting other people’s rights. In short, we need to create a culture that values civic sense.
