Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested 2 drug peddlers in Kulgam and Baramulla districts and also recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs about drug peddling, a police party led by In-charge Police Post Frisal Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Peerbal, Frisal in Kulgam district intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, Stating therein further that the accused has been identified as Junaid Khursheed War R/o Momin, Bijebhara and during searches 135 tablets of Alprazolam Anxit and 15 bottles of Codeine phosphate were recovered from his possession following which the later was accordingly shifted to PS where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that in a similar action in Baramulla district also, a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Peerzada Aijaz Ahmad, assisted by DySP (Prob) Naveed Qazi, SHO PS Baramulla during routine patrolling at Chakloo Baramulla intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehend tactfully. Stating that accused has been identified as Umar Yousuf Lone S/o Mohd Yousuf Lone R/o Nadihal Rafiabad , Police in it’s statement said that during searches 36 bottles of Corex concealed in a handbag was recovered from the possession of the above named accused who was later on shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and subsequently warned that peeople found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
