DC Srinagar holds Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Astaanpora Brein Nishat

Says “Astaanpora to be developed as ‘Cherry Village’ to uplift socio-economic conditions of local culors”

Srinagar : In order to get first-hand appraisal of the public grievances and listen to their developmental demands, the Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Wednesday presided over a Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Astaanpora in Brien Nishat area of the District as part of Public Outreach Programme under weekly Block Diwas.
The Public Grievance Redressal Camp witnessed a large participation of people from Nishat, Gupt Ganga, Brein, Astaanpora and other adjoining areas of Tehsil Khanyar of Srinagar District.
Besides, local representatives of Urban Local Bodies, the Public Grievance Redressal Camp was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Programme Officer, ICDS, Chief Horticulture Officer, Block Medical Officer Hazratbal, Tehsildar Khanyar, Executive Engineer PHE, Deputy Chief Education Officer, District Social Welfare Office, ARTO and other Zonal and Sectoral Officers of the District.
During the Grievance Redressal Camp, Public delegations and scores of individuals projected various developmental issues before the Deputy Commissioner including, augmentation & strengthening of water supply, upgradation of Boys Middle School Brien, removal bottlenecks for road widening, first aid and emergency medical facility, organising skill development training for local youth, street lights, construction of retaining walls, beautification of Shrine of Hazrat Baba Ghulam Din Sahib Pahloo AstanPora Brein Nishat, development of area as tourism village and creating awareness regarding, repairs & macadamization of inner lanes, issues related to granting permission for house repairs etc in Green Belt areas under LCMA, public transport facility and other developmental issues in the area.
The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to all the grievances and demands of the public and sought on the spot response from the concerned District Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said the purpose of holding such grievance redressal Camps is to redress the public issues at their doorsteps and take on-ground assessment of their demands with proper follow up to ensure all demands are fulfilled for the public good in a time bound manner.
On the occasion, the DC urged the local youth to come forward and avail the benefits of different self-employment schemes of the Government launched for handholding of the youth so that they earn livelihood with dignity and honour. He also asked them to get linked with the Mission Youth scheme in order to get skill development training and placement in different entrepreneurship companies to earn their livelihood.
The DC asked the local representatives to submit a list of 20 unemployed youth of Astanpora so that they are provided self-employment under different government schemes.
The DC also asked the Chief Horticulture Officer to take measures to develop the Astanpora area as Cherry Village with a view to enhance the income of local farmers to 3 times for their overall socio-economic development. He also stressed on expanding other allied Agriculture activities in the area.
The DC also emphasized on tapping the tourism potential fully and exploring tracking routes in the area to boost the local economy and asked youth to come forward to set up ventures for sustainable livelihood. He also laid trust on the home stay initiative and urged people to get registered with the concerned Department.
The DC also directed for holding a joint awareness camp by all line Departments to sensitize people about the various Government sponsored employment generation schemes.
With regard to granting permission through a single window system for repairs/renovation in green belt areas, the DC asked the LCMA authorities to look into the matter under Rules in place.
The DC assured the people of Brien Nishat and other adjoining areas that all other genuine demands and issues projected by them will be looked into on priority for their speedy redressal.
On the occasion, people of the area thanked the Deputy Commissioner for conducting a first Public Outreach Programme at Astanpora Brein for the first time ever and bringing Administration at the doorsteps of the people for early redressal of their grievances and issues.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited the Shrine of Hazrat Baba Ghulam Din Sahib Pahloo AstanPora and took stock of the beautification and repairs measures required.
On the occasion, the DC passed directions to the concerned Departments for taking necessary measures.
