Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested 2 gamblers in Baramulla district and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said that a Police party of Police Station Sheeri during patrolling in village Heewan found 4 persons busy with gambling activities in orchards near under construction Hospital Building Heewan, Sating therein further that on noticing the police party, gamblers tried to flee from the spot who were chased by the police party and 02 persons were arrested on spot. Poloce however also said that 2 among them managed to flee and efforts are on to nab the absconding gamblers.
Stating that the arrested gamblers have been identified as Suhail Ahmad Sofi S/o Mohd Ayaz & Bashir Ahmad Rather S/o Mohd Abdullah both residents of Heewan Baramulla, Police in it’s statement further said that stake money of Rs 3850/- and playing cards have been also seized from the gamblers who have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said it has accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Sheeri and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police said that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
