Anantnag: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoomon Tuesday convened a meeting to review the preparations for this year’s Amarnath Yatra 2023.
Thorough deliberations were held with stakeholders from various departments including Roads & Buildings, KPDCL, Jal Shakti, Pahalgam Development Authority, Animal Husbandry, Education, Civil Defence and Home Guards, BSNL, Municipalities, Labour department among others.
Various issues pertaining to Amarnath Yatra like clearance of tracks, setting up of safety railings, sanitation plan, supply of electricity and water, registration of labour and ponies, deployment plans for various line departments etc were discussed.
The DC also reviewed the works plans submitted by various departments for repair of existing infrastructure and augmentation projects to be taken up at specific locations.
He emphasized that detailed planning and seamless execution will be critical for making Amarnath Yatra a fulfilling experience for the Yatries. He said that every effort is to be made to ensure safety of the pilgrims and conservation of the fragile ecosystem along the route.
The DC impressed upon the participants that based on previous experience, a fool proof sanitation plan must be framed and put into practice.
The meeting was attended by ADC Anantnag, CEO PDA, ACR, CAHO, SE R&B, SE KPDCL, SE Jal Shakti, CEO MC, Executive Engineers from Jal Shakti, ALC among others.
