Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam and Baramulla districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Kulgam, a Police Party led by SHO Police Station DH Pora during routine Naka checking at Lagapora DK Marag intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Showkat Ahmad Ganie R/O Chimmer and Bilal Bashir Mir R/O Lagapora from whom 2Kgs of Ganja and 120 gram of Cannabis Powder was recovered during searcjes from their possession and the accused were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that in Baramulla also while acting on specific information a police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Javid Ahmad assisted by SHO PS Kunzer arrested a drug peddler namely Bashir Ahmad Mir S/O Ghulam Hussain Mir R/O Ichgam Budgam during surprise naka checking at Gokhama Kunzer, Police said that during searches 40 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from the possession of the above named accused who was later shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Police in its statement also said that the said accusedwas involved in supplying contraband to local youth and drivers of tourist vehicles in Kunzer and Tangmarg areas, Stating therein further that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
