10 drug peddlers arrested across Kashmir, Cache of contraband/psychotropic substances also recovered : Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that in a series of actions across Kashmir valley, it has arrested ten drug peddlers and recovered huge cache of contraband/psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Pulwama, a police party at a checkpoint established at Chatapora Pulwama arrested 2 bike-born drug peddlers identified as Afaq Ahmad Malik S/O Bashir Ahmad Malik R/O Chatapora Pulwama and Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat S/O Gh Hussain Bhat R/O Gangoo and during searches recovered 20 bottles of Codiene phosphate from their possession, Stating therein further that motorcycle bearing registration number JK04G-3894 has also been seized. Stating that while acting on specific inputs it had established checkpoint at Gangoo Crossing, where a police party arrested a drug peddler and identified him as Mehmood Ali S/O Ali Mohammad Mir R/O Hanji Khula Gangoo Pulwama, Police in it’s statement further said that during searches 70 grams of Charas and 2.4 kgs of Cannabis powder was recovered from his possession. Police in it’s statement also said that similarly, at another checkpoint established at Below Crossing, a police party arrested a drug peddler and identified him as Tariq Ahmad Najar S/O Gh Hassan Najar R/O Rajpora and during searches recovered 10 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from his possession.
Stating that in Baramulla district in a similar action a police party arrested a drug peddler identified as Tajamul Farooq Dar S/O Farooq Ahmad R/O Chandiloora Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Entry Point Gulmarg and during searches recovered 40 grams of Charas from his possession, Police in it’s statement further said that at an another checkpoint established at Gingal Uri a drug peddler identified as Shahnawaz Mir S/O Mutwali Mir R/O Daragutliyan Uri was arrested and during search, 50 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession.
Police in it’s statement also said that in Kulgam also, a police party during patrolling at Adigan Village arrested a drug peddler identified as Abdul Rashid Dar S/O Abdul Ahad Dar R/O Shamsipora, Qaimoh and during search recovered 25 Kgs of Ganja concealed in two Nylon Bags from his possession.
Stating that in Handwara district also, a police party at a checkpoint established on Baramulla-Handwara highway at Rasripora arrested two drug peddlers identified as Irshad Ahmad Dar S/O Abdul Rashid R/O Handwara and Hilal Ahmad Mir S/O Mohammad Amin R/O Behrampora Rafiabad, Police in it’s statement further said that during searches 480 grams of Charas and 385 Tapentadol banned tablets were recovered from the possession of the above named drug peddlers. Police in it’s statement further said that in yet another similar action a police party arrested a drug peddler during patrolling at Tulwari Langate, Stating therein further that the accused has been identified as Zubair Bashir Wani @Umar S/O Bashir Ahmad R/O Tulwari Langate and during checking 110 grams of Charas have been recovered from his possession. Police in its statement also said that it has subsequently shifted all the arrested drug peddlers to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Stating further that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law and investigations have been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law and the culprits involved in this heinous crime will be punished.
