Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah said that Srinagar is abuzz with talk that ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is organizing a mega public meeting for Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh so that he can announce the centre’s support for Article 35-A.
“Srinagar is abuzz with talk that @jkpdp has organised a mega public meeting for Rajnath Singh so he can announce Central Govt support to 35A,” Abdullah, who is the working president of National Conference (NC), wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
He said the expectation is that the Modi-led government will throw its complete weight behind protecting Article 35-A and Singh will announce this on September 10.
Meanwhile, reacting to reports that State Vigilance Organisation has initiated a probe into the alleged “backdoor” appointments in the Jammu Kashmir Cements Limited (JKCL), Abdullah asked what about thousands of alleged backdoor appointments made for political and financial consideration in the last two years.
“Good. What about the 1000’s of back door appointments made for political/financial consideration in the last 2 years? Probe all of those,” he tweeted.
